Maz Jobrani is a hugely popular comedian whose incredible sense of humour, comic timing and amazing acting skills contributed much to his fame. He is also known as a member of the comedy group “The Axis Evil,” which is made up of four Middle Eastern comic book artists who took their name from a speech by former United States President George W. Bush, in Iraq, Iran and Israel, North Korea has been identified as the axis of evil. The comic group has participated in a comedy special that aired on the American pay-TV network Comedy Central, and they have also organized several comedy tours.

The renowned comedian made his arrival to the world on February 26, 1972 in Tehran, Iran. At the age of six, his family immigrated to the United States from Iran and settled in California. He grew up with his two siblings in Tiburon near San Francisco Bay. Maz Jobrani completed his elementary education at Redwood High School in Larkspur. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, where he majored in Political Science and Italian. He continued to choose to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy program at the University of California at Los Angeles, but later dropped out to pursue a career in comedy and acting, which was his dream since childhood, despite his parents wanted him to pursue a profession in medicine or law.

Jobrani has gone through several tragic events in his life, having lost his father earlier before starting his career in comedy. Sadly, his younger brother Kashi Jobrani passed away in April 2014 and the tragedy was compounded when he lost his sister Mariam Jobrani to breast cancer in August 2017. Despite the tragedies, the talented comic artist has been steadfast in pursuing his career as he has achieved impressive feats of comedy and acting. He is currently a regular performer at top comedy clubs in New York and California, including The Comedy Store. He’s also become a huge sensation in comedy, having released several stand-up comic videos including I’m Not a Terrorist But I Played One on TVand Brown & family.
